Maps Ya'll

I hope everyone had an amazing weekend. Here in Kentucky we are experiences some bad weather! So it's just a relaxing night at home with my favorite man!

It has recently been brought to my attention that I have an accent! ha! Living in Kentucky (clearly a southern state) and being from Pennsylvania (CLEARLY a northern state) it is so funny to see the differences between the two. The girls I work with love repeating all the worlds I say different from them (like ON or you all). I get back at them by talking with a strong southern accent. All in fun of course!

This week I was browsing Pinterest and found some of the funniest maps of the US and thought I would share for a good laugh...

{picture via Pinterest}

This one is according to people who live in Michigan (which if you follow my blog you know I lived there for the summer. This is dead on!)

I saved the best for last...

Although I am from PA I have never in my life said the words "Youse guys," but I do know MANY people that do!

I hope you got a laugh out of some of these. It's funny to see how different each state is and what they're known for.
I would love to hear what is interesting about the state you live in! That's what makes blogging so fun, you can reach out to people everywhere.

Rental Home Part 2: Before the Renovations

If you remember from Monday I spent an entire post complaining about renting. It all turns around starting now.

Our furniture arrived Monday and after getting over the shock of how much got messed up in the move, I started setting up our bedroom. I started to breath-this was going to be okay!

I would like to pre-warn you that we aren't done. No house is ever done. My parents have lived in their home for 15 years and just remodeled their entire first floor. I wanted to take a day and show you every inch of our house before we touched it. These are all photos Josh sent me while I was in Michigan and he was down here looking. Without anymore  babbling here is our house before a women's touch.

 {All photos are personal}
This is our adorable home from the outside!

I honestly wish I had more before photos of our living room, but this is it! I love that we have not one, but 2 fireplaces in this house.

The kitchen is the number one problem I have with this house. Please take a look at that pegboard by the stove.

This is our dark dark dark basement. When you come down the stairs this is to your right and to your left is the room below.

I still don't know how I feel about all the shelving and storage units down there.

Not sure if this is inappropriate, but this is our bathroom. This was my number 2 biggest issue!

There is a closet in each of the rooms and every single one of them is occupied.

I'm so bummed Josh didn't get the flower boarder in this picture, but it will definitely make an appearance in my post renovation recap.

Josh's favorite part of our house. His two car garage!

Is it sad that I can't tell what room this is? We have a guest room and a master. The master has a half bathroom attached, but the windows were awkward so we decided to make that the guest bedroom and we are using the "guest" bedroom as our master. They are the same size so we aren't really worried about not having an attached bathroom.

Tomorrow  one day this week I will start to share some of the changes we did to our home! Josh and I noticed that we have a certain sense of style and we call it modern 50s-60s! So stick around to see what this dated home looks like now.

Has anyone had the challenge of making a dated home look modern?

Woes of a Rental Home

Two weeks has passed since we moved into our new home and I am FINALLY ready to share what we have done so far! I wanted to start off our renting journey with a little complaining...

Those who have rented before will know exactly where I am coming from. For those of you who don't consider yourself a lucky person. Josh and I decided that renting was the best route to go since we never know when we are going to move (makes sense right?). Weeks leading up to our move I jumped on Pinterest (of course) and searched how to make a rental home feel like home. Their were endless sources to making a rental home feel more homey without remodeling.

Go ahead explore- click the pictures.

But it NEVER dawned on me that not every landlord allows you to paint or do those little touches that allow you to make this rental home your home. I bet you guessed it by now that our landlord is one of those landlords. He "apparently," just remodeled and painted. Well I am not fond of his taste in electric blue offices with a flower boarder! The first day I visited our new home was a nightmare, guys I almost cried. I know that sounds stupid and like I was overreacting, but it is what it is.

I spent the first day "bossing" our movers around  politely telling our movers where to sit things. And cleaning and cleaning and cleaning. Old houses get dirty easily! Before I start showing you what I had to work with I want to give some moving/renting pointers...

1. When your movers bring your items in document each and every dent, ding, rub, messing, and broken pieces. We had PLENTY! We are actually still waiting on this all to be taken care of

2. Clean before the movers bring your furniture in. It was so hard to clean around everything once it was in the house and boxes were everywhere

3. Don't freak out about what the home looks like before your stuff is in place. It always looks better once you put your furniture in it. I can seriously vouch for this.

4. If you can't paint or do anything extensive to your house it isn't the end of the world, work with what you have.

5. DIY! I have been so busy that my DIY projects have fallen behind, but I still can't wait to share them with you.

So I will stop talking your ear off now and pick up here tomorrow. I am ready to show you this very dated, but very charming first home for Joshua and I! And I know most of this post was kind of negative, but I couldn't be more excited to live in Louisville and be moved in completely with Josh! Sneak preview I learn to love this home!

Have you ever rented a house? What was your experience like? Any tips I didn't mention?

Rain Rain Go Away

Sometimes things don't go the way you want them too. It happens, oh well! So when it rained all day yesterday here in Louisville I wasn't surprised that they rescheduled trick or treat. My goodie bags (see them here) will just have to wait until tonight now! We did have 2 trick or treaters who didn't get the memo and headed out in the rain anyway-they were so cute! (It was like a little sneak preview of how exciting tonight will be)...Did I mention I love Halloween?

I decided to do a trial for Josh's zombie make-up on myself without all his extra things like blood and fake cuts. It needs lots of tweaking before I put it on Josh, but here was the first run...

{all personal photos}
I think I look more a vampire then a zombie, but with some fake blood and what not it should be a full blown zombie! Scary huh?

And like promised I had my apply cider...

Tonight we will be handing out candy (FINALLY!) and then heading downtown to have a few drinks at a local bar!

I know I have been living in my home now for 2 weeks, but tomorrow we are getting as much of the last minute things done as possible, so starting Monday I am completely ready to share everything about my new home, renting, and DIY projects! Get Ready!

How did everyone's Halloween go?

Five on Friday: My Fall To-Do List

Remember my Fall To-Do List? No? Let me remind you...

Fall To-Do List:
Host  a bonfire with s'mores
Wear berry lipstick
Wear tons of sweaters
Visit a haunted house/Get over fear
Go Camping(possibly in the backyard)
Visit a pumpkin patch
3 words: Pumpkin.Spice.Latte
Watch a scary movie and cuddle with boyfriend
Go apple picking
Decorate pumpkins
Buy maroon pants
Buy a pumpkin spice candle
Take lots of walks to enjoy to breeze
Make a fall wreath
Drink lots of cider
Find a corn maze to get lost in
Go on a hay ride
Drink pumpkin beer
Make cool trick or treat bags
Make Halloween Costumes
Make home-made soup

This Five On Friday I thought I would do Five more things I crossed off this list so far.

1. Pumpkin Spice Latte-
Don't mind if I do. I helped myself to one of these this week and it was heaven.

2. Watch a scary movie and cuddle with boyfriend-
Although it wasn't a movie we do cuddle every Sunday night and watch The Walking Dead! And if you don't count it as a scary TV show you need to ask Josh about my nightmares every Sunday night. If you are not a fan of this show yet, get netflix or hulu and quickly catch yourself up with all the seasons, you will not be sorry!

3. Buy a pumpkin spice candle-
I did not just buy any pumpkin spice candle, I bought the worlds best smelling candle. It is Bath and Body Works pumpkin pecan waffles candle. The first time I burned it Josh got off of work and mentioned it the minute he walked in the door, it smells that good. I highly recommend it. They always have some sort of sale on their candles. I got 2 candles for $12. I gave the second candle as a parting gift for one of my co-workers before my big move.

4. Take lots of walks to enjoy the breeze-
I felt like our last week in Detroit we spent so much time outside. Since I have moved to Kentucky I have been so busy unpacking and what not that I haven't spent anytime outside. Honestly though it feels more like winter out their now then Fall anyway.

5. In the process of planning a fun day at a pumpkin patch-
This weekend I am hoping to cross many things off my fall list all in one trip. I want to find a pumpkin patch, do a corn maze, maybe pick some apples, do a hayride, and drink some apple cider. I have done some research on different places in Louisville and the surrounding areas. If there are some Kentucky readers that want to share the fun spots, I would love that!

I hope this is what my list looks like after this weekend...

Fall To-Do List:
Host  a bonfire with s'mores
Wear berry lipstick
Wear tons of sweaters
Visit a haunted house/Get over fear
Go Camping(possibly in the backyard)
Visit a pumpkin patch

I can't wait to finish the rest of this list before the weather gets too much colder. Has anyone else put a dent in their fall to-do list? What is your favorite thing you have done this fall so far?

Side note: I am headed to go pick Josh's dad up in Lexington for a quick visit since he is in town for business! Excited to see a familiar face!

Let's Talk Hotel Livin' and Movin'

{Pre-Warning VERY picture heavy post ahead}

So let's rewind back to last Tuesday (when I should have realized that our move wasn't going to be easy). Josh and I did this to our wall when trying to take our TV down...

{All pictures via personal photos}
Isn't this just fantastic? There goes our security deposit.
But our week wasn't all bad, we did find an incredible bakery while staying in downtown Detroit.

Yum Baklava!

We left our Detroit hotel last Friday and headed into 3 days of different towns and different hotels. First night we stayed in Cincinnati and honestly just slept. We were so exhausted from the driving we did that day.

Then we woke up early and headed for Kentucky...

I saw this sign and BAM everything was gorgeous. Kentucky is such a beautiful state. It reminds me a lot of Pennsylvania (where Josh and I are from).

Although the next couple of pictures are taken from my iphone you can still see how gorgeous everything is. I followed Josh down and I am sure he was wondering why I was swerving a little as I'm attempting to take tons of pictures!

I just love all the mountains.

So gorgeous right?

We spent the next 3 days touring a distillery, a winery, eating at wonderful restaurants, and just spending time together since Josh is leaving me for the whole week starting today.

Now who wants to talk about how bad our move went?
As the movers brought our stuff in bright and early yesterday piece by piece I noticed was broken, take a look...

Both drawers will not (no matter how hard I try) stay on their tracks.

All the light bulbs are missing!

It is hard to see, but the entire leg is broken. The next pictures you can see how crooked the couch is because of it.

This is the large couch that also now sit crooked. Along with these being broken, they also broke our hub cap clock that we made, one of our end tables, and basically packed our boxes at random (making them impossible to unpack).

Sigh. I am done complaining though. I am happy to be moved into a house, with my boyfriend, and I am starting to love its old charm. Did anyone else have moving issues? Or a house that they are renting that needs some tough love?
