Rain Rain Go Away

Sometimes things don't go the way you want them too. It happens, oh well! So when it rained all day yesterday here in Louisville I wasn't surprised that they rescheduled trick or treat. My goodie bags (see them here) will just have to wait until tonight now! We did have 2 trick or treaters who didn't get the memo and headed out in the rain anyway-they were so cute! (It was like a little sneak preview of how exciting tonight will be)...Did I mention I love Halloween? 

I decided to do a trial for Josh's zombie make-up on myself without all his extra things like blood and fake cuts. It needs lots of tweaking before I put it on Josh, but here was the first run...

I think I look more a vampire then a zombie, but with some fake blood and what not it should be a full blown zombie! Scary huh?

And like promised I had my apply cider...

Tonight we will be handing out candy (FINALLY!) and then heading downtown to have a few drinks at a local bar! 

I know I have been living in my home now for 2 weeks, but tomorrow we are getting as much of the last minute things done as possible, so starting Monday I am completely ready to share everything about my new home, renting, and DIY projects! Get Ready!

Edit: I was browsing other blogs and completely forgot that today was Friday (meaning I missed Five on Friday!) Opps! I will do a quick version of this Fridays Five...Five Things I am looking forward to 1. Finishing last minute things on my house this Saturday 2. Dressing up as a Zombie with my awesome zombie boyfriend tonight 3. Having my second day of work today 4. My new chevron scarf I order coming in the mail soon and 5. Happy Halloween at the Solle/Greenplate Household

Happy Halloween! 

Halloween at the Solle/Greenplate household has been put in full swing the last couple of days. We finally did pumpkins, I made trick or treat bags, and we had costume controversies...so sit back drink some apple cider (or pumpkin spiced anything) and read all about our Halloween festivities.

We started out with a little trip to Paul's Fruit Market to pick up some pumpkins...Look at these bad boys (HUGE!) I ventured to the Walmart to grab some paint, candles, and paint brushes for all the decorating. Side Note: I have no idea where all my craft projects are located with all this moving around, let's hope they are still at my parents house in PA!

Josh was busy trying to print the pattern he wanted to make for his pumpkin so I thought I would get started on my trick or treat bags. If you remember back during Halloween Week here on Can't Buy Me Love I talked about wanting to make trick or treat bags. I loved as a kid getting a little extra treat of a goodie bag or something different then just grabbing candy from a bucket.

 Guys candy is expensive. I got 2 variety packs with a coupon and I didn't end up spending that much, but regular priced it would have been $26 for bags of candy (that is unreal to me!)

But I think my 50 trick or treat bags turned out cute-I can't wait to hand them out! Josh seems to think we are going to run out and hey we might, but it happens. 

After I snapped some poor quality iphone pictures of my goodie bags I cleared the table and set up our pumpkin station. Let it be known that Josh wasn't into the whole pumpkin thing at first, but I insisted and he ended up having so much fun!

I didn't get many pictures of Josh working on his "masterpiece," but here is one of him on 

the phone with his dad (not very safe carving protocol)!

 If you also remember I was really debating what I wanted to do to my pumpkin this year, because I am the worse carver EVER! I kid you not-normally I am done and people have no clue what it is supposed to be. 

I took to Pinterest about a month ago and looked up different options. I like so many things that I combined a bunch. I first painted boo...

Then added some polka dots! You can kind of see Josh's work in progress in the background!

I saw so many people taking a drill to their pumpkins and I HAD to try it. So I drilled a bunch of holes all throughout my pumpkin!

Josh recently got a new company car and it is a brand new Ram truck so he insisted he did the Ram logo...I think it turned out awesome!

 Here they all are on our porch! I kept the painted pumpkins on the porch in case it rained.

We also did a couple little pumpkins! We really didn't feel like doing them after we took so much time on our big pumpkins. I painted mine in probably 2 minutes flat and I didn't even get a picture of Josh's little one (it of course had car logos all over it).

Here you can see the pumpkins my niece and nephew mailed to me and my final products. I almost cried when I got their little pumpkins in the mail, I miss them like crazy. 

Okay so you are probably wondering "Angi where are the costumes you have talked about for the entire month of October," guys sometimes things just don't turn out the way you want them too. I have dressed up for Halloween every single year of my entire life. Yup that's right I'm Halloween obsessed. I have just been flip-flopping for weeks about what I wanted to be that here it is the day of and have nothing. I did buy everything for Josh to be a Zombie tonight, but I think I am going to sit this one out. We decided that since the weather is so bad right now in Louisville that we weren't going out to anything downtown. I guess paying money for a costume that I would be wearing just to hand out my trick or treat bags didn't appeal to me this year. So I will sit the year out, oh well! I hope everyone has the most magical Halloween night filled with candy, costumes, and pumpkin everything!!! I will be enjoying bakes pumpkin seeds and hot apple cider after dinner.

Struggling What to Share

This week I really struggled with what I wanted to talk about. I have been so busy unpacking and reorganizing our lives that I haven't been doing to many exciting things. I know one day soon I want to write all about the woes of renting a home and all of the updates we are allowed to do on this very dated (very charming) home, but I am just not at that stage yet. I had also planned to share all my halloween goodies this week, mine and Josh's costumes, the goodie bags I wanted to make up for trick or treaters, and our pumpkins, but I am starting my new job later this week and I'm not sure if I will even be able to do all these Halloween related events so I am holding off making costumes and goodie bags.

I always hope that what I share is interesting. I find the popular blogs are all about fashion (which I struggle with myself), cooking (which I also struggle with), and people do the worlds most entertaining things(which I am not doing right now). I hope that as I grow as a blogger I find my niche and people really enjoy my blog. I don't consider myself a good or inspirational writer, but I just share the truth about every step of my life. 

With this all being said I wanted to share that I am boring right now and okay with it. I painted my nails nude, just ate an orange and had some apple cider, and plan on going to bed a little after 9 tonight. 

So let's hope later this week (maybe even tomorrow) I can share something a little more interesting with you all!

Merry Christmas?

Does anyone else feel this way...

I just feel like the minute October hits BAM every store starts to put out their Christmas items...I would just like to enjoy Halloween and Thanksgiving thank you very much. To really hit my point home, as some of you know, I work in retail and tomorrow as in October 16, 2013 we will be setting our Holiday Floorset (yes this includes garland, sparkles, glitter, dark hunter greens, maroons, and a christmas sound track the will last until mid-December when we switch our store into Spring) You heard it SPRING in December. Rant. Is. Now.

Halloween Week Day 5: Five On Friday Pumpkins

This Five on Friday is a Pumpkin addition for Halloween Week. I wanted to do something a little different this year instead of the typical carving of the pumpkins (considering I'm never very good at this).

1. Drunken Pumpkins-

Although this does involve carving out the pumpkins I think this is pretty funny. I don't think this is the first impression I want my new neighbors to have though!

2. Cookie Cutters-

How easy is this??? I would have never though of this! 

3. Buttons-

Even though I do think this is adorable it's not exactly what I'm going for

4. Drilling-

I think I am going to leave this to Josh! 

5. Painting-

I LOVE these lilly pumpkins!

****Side note Joshua and I are having one of our best friends visit us this weekend. Ryan was Josh's college roommate and became one of our closest friends. It has been a long time since we have all been together and I'm sure I will have tons of mayhem to report. Ryan is my partner in crime and I am the worlds best wingman for him so I'm excited to say the least about his visit. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend filled with lots of fun!

Halloween Week Day 4: Party Halloween Style

Although Joshua and I will be in the moving phase and not so worried about throwing a party with the none existent people we know in Kentucky, I still can't help but to browsing all things Halloween party on Pinterest.

I love paper straws anyway so having them at a Halloween party would be a must.

Halloween Week Day 3: Costumes

Everyone's favorite part of Halloween...Costumes! Let's talk about previous costumes Josh and I have done. I've actually been most excited to share this with you guys!

Year 1: Hershey Kiss and Milton Hershey (Who kind of looked like Hitler)

(Sorry I didn't have time to rotate this.) Josh handed out Hershey Kisses all night and made a cool name tag for himself.

Year 2: We were a Mac and a PC.

If you remember that's when those commercials were SUPER popular. Josh actually completely made these computers out of canvas. This was days before blogging so there are no how to instructions! 

Year 3: Last year we were (like many others) Soap and a Loofah. It took me 4 straight hours to make my costume. If anyone wants instructions just let me know! We used a sheet to cover a box for Josh and added bubble wrap to look like bubbles on his soap. I also made that headband myself.

I first thought of the idea of being the cookie monster. Well because I love this costume. Josh wasn't pleased with the idea. He didn't want to be a cookie.

I loved this idea. Josh didn't because last year he was so hot in that bulky costume and struggled getting around.

I didn't even show Josh this idea...because I can't see him in this little dress ha!

Once again I loved this idea, but that costume is bulky.

I begged Josh for this one. I didn't think it was too bulky, but apparently he did. This is the ONE thing that Josh is opinionated about and he is down right stubborn. I do however want him to be comfortable and having fun in whatever he wears so I give in.

Then I found this! I could be an adorable deer and Josh could be a hunter (he already has all the gear and will be comfortable) His other big issue was that being new in Kentucky we won't even know people to go out with so why are we dressing up. So this is perfect. 

I am still trying to decide how I am going to do my makeup and antlers. If anyone has suggestions please feel free to share!

I found this video that I THINK I am going to model my makeup after. I might just make my antlers out of tinfoil, duck tape, and spray paint them. Can't wait to share what I come up with!

****VERY RECENT UPDATE: Josh now wants to be a zombie. (For those of you who watch The Walking Dead and love it as we do, you understand his new obsession). We will see if I will be able to pull off Zombie make-up. I will be watching tons and tons of youtube tutorial videos.

Halloween Week Day 2: Trick or Treat

Joshua laughs at me whenever I bring this up...Trick or Treat! This is the first year that we have our own house therefore have our own trick or treaters. Who cares that I'm more excited than the kids will be. I remember being a kid and going trick or treating and some houses gave out floss, beanie babies, and just plain old candy. I want to be remembered like that too...so I got thinking...

How cute are these? But I think these would be a bit expensive to make.

I LOVE these, but parents are always weird about open candy (and they should be).

Same with these adorable, but they are open. 

These are something I am definitely considering making. I would need to make something else too, because handing out just lollipops is lame. 

These are awesome...made with a rubber glove. The downside to these is the mass amount of candy in each bag. Candy is expensive guys!

So in the end I might just pick up a really cute candy holder.

Josh and I will be dressing up as always so hopefully the kids like our costumes. He also brought up doing hot chocolate in the garage. Apparently that's something he remembers from his childhood trick or treating and I love the idea. I think it will be nice to get to know our neighbors better if we invite them in for some hot chocolate and then give the kids their candy!
