Walking Down The Aisle

Once again I have to state the fact that I am not engaged and will not be engaged for a VERY long time. It's just not the time for Joshua and I yet. This doesn't stop me from being obsessed with all things wedding though. I have recently been reading a lot about the big debate of what people walk down the aisle too.

There is the obvious Wedding March (As much as I love everything about a super traditional wedding I just can't seeing myself walking to this)

{Wedding March by Richard Wagner}

But I have NEVER had a doubt in my mind that I wanted to walk to something upbeat. WHY NOT? The only thing I would be nervous about is as I'm walking down the isle I would start rocking out (and I take the ceremony very seriously in every wedding). Now let's be serious I don't want to walk down the isle too AC/DC or something none wedding related...cue my favorite song to dance too currently: (pre-warning this is super offensive)

{Gas Pedal by Sage The Gemini}

I was thinking something more along the lines of one of these...

{White Dress by Ben Rector}
How romantic does this song sound

{Save Me by Goyte}
This is probably my favorite by far for some reason
Some of the more depressing parts would have to be edited out.

{The Verve by Bittersweet Symphony}
I prefer the just the instrumental version of this song. I think it just screams excitement and like something really amazing is about the happen.

{Beautiful Day by U2}
And lastly U2...you can't go wrong.

I just want to make a statement walking down that isle and I don't want that statement to be I'm boring. But like I said in the intro a girl can only dream of her "big day." I should have been a wedding planner as much as I love weddings!

What songs did you walk down the isle too? Was it fast or slow?

Do You Know Your Monograms?

This post is going to be very text heavy, because I really want to share the proper etiquette for your monograms so I thought I would add a little something pretty first.

{both picture via personal photos}
Look how cute these Lilly Pulitzer backgrounds are on my iphone!

I have a Vera Bradley cell phone case. All these patterns are a little bright and in your face, but oh well!
(side note: I didn't think about how I'm completely sharing all of my apps with you guys! Don't mind how freakishly organized I have to have my phone!)

ANYWAYYY...
As we all know I LOVE monograms! But I got to thinking the other day about how my monogram may not always be aMs or AmS or whatever variation I have always been using (mind blown). I started searching what is proper monograms once you get married and I thought I would share what I found...(before we get started, I am not engaged, I am not planning on being engaged anytime soon, and I am not pushing anything here...rant over before I get yelled at by the boyfriend).

Let us use Joshua Dwayne Greenplate and Angela Marie Solle (My boyfriend and I) as the examples.

Barware- You would use the man's initial or monogram (i.e. JdG/ jDg OR G)

Bath Towels- This goes by user of the towel. If it is the man's towel use his first, last, middle (i.e. JGD, in any variation), same for the women. I personally would rather do joint towels and I would  personally then do his first initial, our last initial, my first initial (i.e. jGa or just a super fancy G)

Bedding- Most of the sites said you would use the women of the houses first, married, and maiden (i.e. AgS). OR you could choose to do a mix family monogram depending on who sleeps on which side. Josh sleeps on the left side (i.e. jGa).

Table Linens- Sources say these are treated the same as bedding.
Bags- Any sort of bag the entire family may use will need the family initial on it (i.e. G)
Wedding Paper-Goods- Invitations and Ceremony uses bride's maiden name monogram (i.e. aMs), then you switch to the family monogram for the reception, favors, ect. (i.e. AgJ or jGa).
I also noticed the difference between traditional monogram, wife's first, husbands last, wife's maiden (i.e. aGs) and modern monogram wife's first, husband's last, husband's first (i.e. aGj) I completely prefer aGj or jGa!

One day (far in the future) I will have to say goodbye to this beautiful monogram!

I hope this helps anyone who has been wondering themselves how monograms work!

DIY: PicMonkey

I found the website PicMonkey through a blogger on Weddingbee (I've talked about this site before here) who used it for their STDs (Save-the-Dates)! I am the worst at making collages and using internet sites in general. I am impressed I can even navigate blogger. So when I went to this site to see how it works I was surprised who I whipped this up...

It's not professional or anything, but like I said this took all of 5 minutes, give me 30 and I bet I could make one heck of a Christmas card, STD, or any invitation. I can imagine how much cheaper it would be to print these on your own printer onto photo paper rather than ordering them through a company. I'm not going to lie I love Minted and have made mock Christmas cards to send out this year, but I also love saving money!

I mean how cute is this card from Minted. I will try my hand at making my own, but sometimes you have to leave it to the professionals.

I look forward to sharing what I decide on using in the future.

Weddingbee!

Okay so I (much like every girl) have been dreaming of a fairytale wedding since I practically popped out of the womb. BUT I am only 22 and Josh and I have no plan of getting married anytime soon. We have lots of fun left to have before we take this HUGE step, but I can still dream.

Cue weddingbee.com! This magical land of bloggers blogging all about their weddings as they plan them. Basically it's the cutest wedding site I have EVER seen. You apply to be a blogger during your wedding planning/leading up to your wedding day. They pick a handful of women and you pick a code name, examples include Miss Camera, Miss Sword, Miss Jet Setter, ect. ect. ect. I've decided that if I would ever be a weddingbee blogger my code name would be something like Miss Mimosa or Miss Monogram or Miss Brooch (since I have a new obsession with them) who knows. I just think the concept is cute!

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND CHECKING IT OUT!!! If you love all things weddings as much as I do this website is perfect. The women are DIY lovers and plan the most perfect weddings.
