I thought I would share what has been going down in my kitchen lately!
We have been really into Detox water.
This is just cucumber and strawberries in water over night.

This is mint, cucumber, and lime over night in water.

Spinach salad, cucumber, strawberries, blue cheese, and raspberry vinaigrette.

Shredded chicken, cheese, avocado, cilantro, a little lime juice, salt, wrapped in a burrito and baked.

Experimenting with Appetizers

Guys-I suck at cooking. I try and that's all that matters. I have put in a major effort since Josh and I moved in together to be a better cooker or at least cook more (same thing right?) I look at blogs like Holly's (The Hobbit Kitchen) and think, "if only I could cook like her!"

Even though I can't cook I thought I would link up with Ashley from Let's Get Bananas! I thought maybe I could learn a thing or two from these girls!

I made this roast a few weeks ago.
It tasted better then it looks.
But generally Josh is the master chef in our house.

With my Ugly Sweater Party coming up this Wednesday I thought maybe I will make some appetizers. I have yet to try making an appetizer!
Look how amazing these appetizers look and simple too...

But I'm going to be honest with you...I will probably end up cutting up some cheese and grabbing some chips (sorry guests!)

What are your favorite appetizers to make? Did you struggle when you first started cooking?

Also today I am linking up with A Girl and Her Sparkles on a previous Christmas Post I did during Christmas week. Go Check her out though (She is awesome!)

This weeks Five on Friday will keep with the Detroit Week theme. I decided to do five places to eat. Because who doesn't love to go out to eat when they are visiting a new place.

These is in no specific order...it was hard enough picking just 5 places let alone ranking them. (Have I ever shared my indecisiveness with you all? Just ask my boyfriend, it's one trait he is not fond of) With that being said all the places I share Joshua introduced me to.

They were two brothers who got into a fight and then literally just built a wall to separate them and continued to make those delicious Coneys.

3. Slows Bar BQ-
This is possibly my favorite place to eat in Detroit. Eat HERE!

I mean look at this...

That is literally a plate of meat.

THIS MAC N' CHEESE IS THE BEST EVERRR!

And last but not least these cheesy waffle fries are also some of the best I have ever eaten.

4. Clique-
Okay so this next place is a breakfast dive. Yes those are fact flowers in the picture below, but it has some of the best breakfast I have ever had. The service is incredible to the point that we wont go there for a couple of months and they still remember our orders.

They don't have a website so don't bother searching, but they are well worth the find!

5. Polish Village Cafe or PVC
The menu below is just a sample of the delicious food they have to offer. It's a small restaurant that you usually have to wait to get into, but that only proves how awesome the place is. Josh and I learned the hard way that they don't take cards and had to track down and ATM!

Both of these are towns within Detroit that have tons and tons and tons of culture and delicious food!

***The funniest thing about this post is that I have been SO sick this entire week and honestly haven't eaten a single thing. To most people this post would have made them hungry, but it just made me sick. What I won't do (even to myself) to share things on here!

Chef Boyfriend

My boyfriend is an amazing cook. Don't be jealous, it's tastes better than it looks. AND is always paired with a delicious drink, wine, beer, gimlets, vernors, mimosas. Sunday dinner has slowly become a tradition since we don't actually get to eat dinner together most nights. As I type he is in the kitchen preparing something that looks and smells delicious for tonights dinner!
