If Our House Could Talk

Ever wonder what your house would say if it could talk? I'm sure the judging would be endless and embarrassing in our household.

What would mine say?

"PAINT ME! Who the hell thought electric blue for an office with flower wall paper was a good idea. Would you wear something this ugly?"

"Why do you squeeze your boyfriends butt...ALL THE TIME? Girl that's weird"-I picture our house being sassy?

"Was it necessary for Josh to nail 1000 hole in the walls to hang 6 records?"

"Just because you open a new bottle of wine doesn't mean you have to finish the entire bottle that night!"

"Watching Pretty Little Liars on Netflix doesn't count as having a full time job!"

"The smashed spiders that you leave on the walls are not acceptable!"

What would your house say about you?

9 hours 4 minutes and 600.8 miles

I know I always say I live 12 hours from home, but I just googled it...I don't say this often, but I was wrong, haha! Not saying that 9 hours and 4 minutes isn't a long trip still, but I guess I was over exaggerating this entire time!

Anywayyy, today is the day we head home for Thanksgiving. Josh is the best person to take a road trip with and it's honestly so nice to have him away from all of his electronics and focused on me (and the road), how selfish sounding is that. The boy is always on some sort of social media website (and yes I have read Cosmo, he isn't cheating on me!)

I am ready for a wonderfully cooked meal from my Ma, some educational lesson on life from my dad, being able to cuddle my nieces and nephew until they yell at me, spending time with everyone else that I love so dearly, enjoying a wine/cookie party my momma is hosting (more to come on this later in the week), spend time celebrating my best friends birthday, and shop some black friday sales.

Phew I'm exhausted just writing it all!
Just give me a sec!

Okay I'm good! I know everyone will be busy busy busy over the next couple of days, but I "hope," being the key word, to still blog this week! Now to hit the road, next time I blog it will be from a new zip code.

What are your Thanksgiving plans? Are you traveling? Are you taking the week off from blogging?

Sunday Funday

That is probably the most cliche blog title I have had so far. Anyway, today Joshua and I decided to have a little fun! It's about time! We have a VERY busy couple of weeks between breaking our lease in Detroit, movers coming and clearing out our apartment, moving into a hotel in Detroit, then moving into a hotel in Kentucky, and FINALLY moving into our new home. On top of all of that I will be quitting my job here and starting a new one in Louisville. Ready to see our cute, little, adorable, cosy (all things positive) first home?

Hello new home! I couldn't be more excited to finally have a home with Josh. Its a three bedroom (or 2 bedroom and office as we see it), a finished basement (where we plan to put our pool table and hopefully a bar),  2 fireplaces (which I think are SO adorable), and a very dated kitchen (which I'm fine with).

Although we are renting since its our first home we wont be able to do any major renovations, I'm fine with this. Everything is just perfect for our first home!

Detroit Week Day 3: Places to Live

What day is it? Hump Day that's right...Happy Hump Day!

The ONLY reason I'm writing this post at all during Detroit Week is that most of the horrible thoughts that revolve around Detroit is that certain parts are not suitable for living in. Like any city there are parts that are abandoned...Who cares? So let's talk about my favorite place...downtown Detroit.

I am obviously bias because I think where I live is the best...We live in River Place Apartments right on the River Walk. Our apartment is located only a few miles from downtown (Perfect!)

{both videos via personal videos}

This is the complex I live in.

This is our actual apartment with a brick wall in the bedroom and exposed beam 13 ft. ceilings.

BUT... although I love my apartment it might not be for everyone.

The rest of these apartments are obviously just apartments I have heard are good.

Millender Center - Josh and I actually REALLY wanted to live here. It is in the heart of downtown and the people mover is attached so you can get all over the city easily.

Just to name a few...however, I will always be bias and say that River Place Apartments offers the most for the best price.

Dream Home; Country Wishing

I have been dreaming up these adorable little cottages with a wrap around porch and little white rocking chairs on the front porch since I can remember. Although Josh and I are going for more of the downtown life for our first home, I hope one day I am able to have a little bit of land and my country living dreams.

Labor Day Weekend Recap

I have been so busy since getting back from my highly anticipated Labor Day trip home. I wanted to share what all I did while I was home. Do not get too excited, it was a very relaxing vacation full of catching up with the most important people in my life.
or 4!

Thursday: I left Thursday right after work and met Joshua at our home to follow him on our 8 hour drive home. (I followed him only because he sold one of his cars while we were home, since he got a company car).

Friday: I was up bright and early to meet my best friend Jess for some shopping (which included hot pink lip stick (sneak preview) that I WILL be posting about soon) and lunch. We took advantage of the Labor Day weekend sales. I stopped for some catching up with my parents at their store then headed home to help them get ready for a wedding they were attending that night. FINALLY got a much needed haircut and eyebrow waxing.

Saturday: Josh, my parents, and I headed to Morning Star (a HUGE flea market) and enjoyed the warm weather. That afternoon my nieces and nephew, as well as, my brother and S-I-L came over to spend some time together. Saturday night I meet my new niece Nora and watching Kara (niece) and Isaac (nephew) sit on separate chairs because they are punished for being bad in school this past week. Josh and I headed to dinner at the Greenplate household then drinks at a local bar that night. I also had so much needed time catching up with his little sister

Sunday: I spent the day in Gettysburg with my parents wondering around looking at the different events set up because of the Labor Day weekend. Then later I met up with Josh to head to Mt. Gretna to meet our friend Ken for dinner, drinks, and catching up. I spent a lot of time in Mt. Gretna in middle school, I highly recommend the area for quiet vacations. It has a lake/beach, The Jigger Shop where we of course had to grab some of the best ice cream, and has the most adorable cottages. Side note, I had the most amazing drinks the first was a pineapple mojito and the second was a strawberry fizz (Click the names for recipes for each, I had to look them up as soon as I got home)

Monday: Included seeing my bestie for a total of 10 minutes to say cya and then hitting the road with my love. About 2 hours into our drive we got pulled over, but Josh got off pretty easy with no points and a minimal ticket.

Goodbye MI Hello PA

Today is the day I have been waiting for this ENTIRE month. I get to make the 8 hour drive home to visit until Monday. Looking forward to seeing my family, my new niece, my bestie, getting a haircut from my haircutter, and just enjoying a relaxing time.

Can't wait to hang out in this backyard!

Loved Ones

As I talked about in my last post Joshua and I are planning a trip home at the end of August and I couldn't be more excited to see my family. I am truly lucky to have the family and friends that I am surrounded with. I would love to share how awesome these people really are.

First is the amazing people who I am forever thankful for giving birth to me. My mom and dad are beyond supportive and I owe them for raising me to be the independent person I am. My mom has set out to lose weight over the past couple years and has taught me what determination really is. My dad is the most hardworking man I know and has taught me you work for what you want, nothing is just handed to you.
My parents also raised another amazing person, my brother. He recently married a women that makes him incredibly happy which of course makes me happy. My brother and I have a fun relationship where we still act like we are little kids in the same house fighting, but I know he would do anything for me.

And if my brother wasn't cool enough he had some pretty cool kids. He has two kids from a previous marriage and new baby that I am patiently waiting to meet. This picture describes there relationship perfectly. They are not only the worlds cutest kids, but they are so good and fun.
This is such a funny poised picture, as true brother and sister when it was over he probably kicked her

This little doll baby is my newest niece that I already love without even meeting her

Every girl needs a best friend and I found mine in the 7th grade. She's probably the funniest person I have ever met. Knowing I can literally call her at anytime of the night or day and she will talk me out of whatever life ending event I think I'm going through makes me love her even more.
This is her boyfriend (that I set her up with :)
Isn't she super pretty!

If your a lucky girl you also have a boyfriend or husband by your side. Joshua an I met junior year of high school and immediately became close friends. Although Josh was ready to date me right away it took be until freshman year of college to realize I couldn't live without him. He is the typical boy that isn't super romantic or sensitive, but he is always there for me. He bends over backwards to help, support me, and love me. On top of it all he is so freaking cute.

If it wasn't for Josh I obviously wouldn't have met his incredible family. I feel so lucky that from day 1 Josh's family welcomed me with open arms. They are so much fun and so supportive with everything I do. His little sister is the sister that I never had and I'm so happy I'm able to be so close to all of them.

Can you tell that I'm homesick?

Five on Friday: Life

Sorry I've been sucking so much lately, but I worked over 100 hours in the past two weeks has kept me away from my blog. BUT I did not forget about my Five on Friday this week. This week it's going to be five things you've missed out on during the past two weeks.

1. Beach Boys
This is long overdue. Josh was invited through his work to first do a meet and greet with the lead singer of the BEACH BOYS! I used to love them from the days of watching Full House (I'm showing my age I suppose)
{picture via personal photo}

I even got a signed CD!
{picture via personal photo, sorry about the sideways pic}

Then it was concert time and it was AMAZING!
{video via personal photo}

We danced, enjoyed meeting Josh's co-workers, and singing songs I was surprised I knew. After the show we were invited backstage to meet the rest of the band.

2. Trip Home
Exciting news that I will be planning a trip home finally at the end of this month. I am missing these little perfect people. Nora is my newest niece and I haven't met her yet, so to say I'm excited is an understatement. Isaac and Kara are in the picture below passed out after a long day of bike riding.

3. Store Open
Working over 100 hours in the past two weeks was not only amazing overtime, but exhausting. As I shared before I started a new job since I've moved to Detroit. We recently opened a brand new side by side AE and Aerie store in the mall. It opened Tuesday so my schedule will become a little more open.

4. Kentucky
Update on our move to Kentucky, Josh finally got his "okay" to get the process going. Just waiting on a few things and we will be house hunting.

5. Drinks and Casino
After a very stressful work week, I joined Josh and a few of his friends for a night of drinking and gambling.

First we started at the top of the GM building at Coach Insignia.

This is the amazing view from the top floor

Then we hit the casino where I made $40.30 off of $5

This is a side note, but Josh packed my lunch one day last week and this is what I found on my PB&J. How cute is he!!!
