Experimenting with Appetizers

Guys-I suck at cooking. I try and that's all that matters. I have put in a major effort since Josh and I moved in together to be a better cooker or at least cook more (same thing right?) I look at blogs like Holly's (The Hobbit Kitchen) and think, "if only I could cook like her!"

Even though I can't cook I thought I would link up with Ashley from Let's Get Bananas! I thought maybe I could learn a thing or two from these girls!

I made this roast a few weeks ago.
It tasted better then it looks.
But generally Josh is the master chef in our house.

With my Ugly Sweater Party coming up this Wednesday I thought maybe I will make some appetizers. I have yet to try making an appetizer!
Look how amazing these appetizers look and simple too...

But I'm going to be honest with you...I will probably end up cutting up some cheese and grabbing some chips (sorry guests!)

What are your favorite appetizers to make? Did you struggle when you first started cooking?

Also today I am linking up with A Girl and Her Sparkles on a previous Christmas Post I did during Christmas week. Go Check her out though (She is awesome!)

  3. When i first started cooking I would look up recipes on blogs or that i saw on food network and tried them out on my roommates and friends. Practice made it better because they think I am a great cook and i still don't think so.

Keep it up and have fun at your party :)

  4. This is the perfect linkup to get lots of cooking practice. I had to self teach myself a lot since growing up my Dad was a horrible cook (sorry Dad) but I just picked a recipe a week from a cookbook or Pinterest and tried it. You will learn more and more what you can swap out and branch out more. All you can do is try! :)

  5. Thanks for sharing this link up! I'd never heard of it but it's a great way to find new recipes! I got married this summer and that is when I actually started making dinners. If you google Mix and Match Mama, she has TONS of simple easy recipes! I make so many of hers. I'm finding the more practice I put in, the easier it is getting!

  7. When Joey and I first moved in together I had a LOT of disasters! There were plenty of nights we had to order pizza because my dishes weren't edible. But the more I cooked, the better I was in the kitchen and now I love it! I personally think your roast looks delish!

  9. The bacon and guac is making me hungry. I'm not much of a cook either, but you can't go wrong with bringing a cheese/wine plate if nothing else.

  11. The mini tacos looks amazingly delicious, plus I have a feeling kids will love them! By the way everyone sucks at cooking in one way or another (like how I suck at baking), haha, it's just best to remember that it's an art as well as science. Science, because you have to add the right flavors and art because of the plating. But whatever you do DO NOT beat yourself up or compare your dishes to anyone else. They might just have a natural gift for cooking :)

  16. Oh my goodness those apps look so good! I've made the mini tacos before but with wonton shells rather than cutting the tortilla shells. Taco layer dip, buffalo chicken dip, and cream cheese ball are my three favorite (and EASY) go to meals. Best of luck to you with your cooking and holiday hosting! :)
