Weekend Recap

Oh Monday how I hate you! It makes it that much harder that I had a fantastic weekend! If you remember from Friday I shared that we were having a friend come into town...

Meet Ryan!

The weekend was definitely started on the right note, cue in Mimosas.

Saturday we just hung out during the day since Ryan's flight got delayed about 1000 times.
That night we got ready, grabbed a taxi, and then headed downtown.
We started at Fishbone a seafood restaurant? I question it because I honestly am not sure what type of restaurant it is (It was delicious that's all you need to know)

Here we are enjoying our amazing dinner and Sake a Japanese drink. I had sushi and once I started drinking I REALLY regretted it.

Then we headed out...I am going to pre-warn you about the bad dancing pictures you are about to encounter.  You've now been warned... proceed.

We did this...
Not sure why I can't keep my mouth shut.
Then this...and that lasted for hours.
So that was our Saturday night (a lot of horrible dancing that Josh and I didn't care about!) We had fun right?

Sunday we stayed in bed wayyy to late, then watched the final couple episodes of season 3 The Walking Dead (Anyone watch this?)
Then we headed out to get some dinner and look what we ran into...a zombie walk going through downtown Detroit! Wish we would have knew about this we would have been there in a heartbeat.

Then we had an amazing dinner at Slow's Bar BQ (I talked about Slow's here)and I obviously really enjoyed this pumpkin beer.

We ended our night cuddling on the couch watching the season 4 premier of The Walking Dead. Today is going to be a very busy day considering we move into a hotel tomorrow and the movers will be here to move all of our things out. Kind of bittersweet, but I can't wait to move to Kentucky.

Halloween Week Day 4: Party Halloween Style

Although Joshua and I will be in the moving phase and not so worried about throwing a party with the none existent people we know in Kentucky, I still can't help but to browsing all things Halloween party on Pinterest.

{all pictures via Pinterest (of course)}
So easy, yet it adds something to talk about at a party

I don't know if it's the "punny" or the cute little witch legs, I just love this!

So easy, so cute, so something I would love to do.

I love paper straws anyway so having them at a Halloween party would be a must.
If you love them like I do...Etsy is your place.

I would obviously need a Halloween banner (I still might try to DIY one of these for the front of my house for trick or treaters)

Also adore!

I saved the best for last. If you can't read the instructions basically:
Hollow out
Gently carve front
Poke a real tap in front
Fill with Pumpkin beer or cider

Who has party plans for Halloween? What fun touches do you plan on putting on your Halloween parties?

Detroit Week Day 4: Places to Drink

No secret that Josh and I love to enjoy a good beer. We just graduated in May and are still stuck in the phase of going out and having a good time (you're only young once right). Of course we found all the best places in Michigan to get a good beer and have a good time.

Let's start with the fact that we are within walking distance to one of Josh's favorite breweries, Atwater. (And when I say within walking distance I mean literally 10 steps from our apartment and you are there.

{both picture via Atwater}
This brewery is located in a 1919 warehouse and has a really cool atmosphere.

Another brewery we love is Dragonmead. {all pictures via Dragonmead}

It not only has some of the best beer and SO many options, but the bar is pretty cool too!

How cool is this?

Josh and I normally just get a sampler of beer, because we can't decide.

Just like any good cities the bar scene is pretty good...
The Baltimore is a bar that is a total dive with tons of character. I sadly couldn't find a single picture of it, but it is featured on AMCs new TV show called Low Winter Sun ( they call it the international on the show.) They have really cheap beer, but REALLY expensive mixed drinks.

Old Shillelagh- This downtown detroit at its finest. It's 3 levels with different music on each level and is always PACKED! The top floor is a roof dance floor with a DJ.

Sometimes they even have HUGE outside dance parties with a DJ.

Weekend Recap

Happy Monday all! I have been non-stop busy the last couple days, leaving no time for blogging. Although I worked all weekend Joshua and I decided that we were not going to let that stop us from having an awesome weekend. Saturday Josh picked me up from work and we headed two hours up north to Grand Rapids, MI! We only stayed the night up their since I had to be back at work at 3 on Sunday, but it made my weekend seem so much longer!

We were excited to be on our way!

We couldn't leave without making stupid faces!

The real reason for the trip was to visit Josh's favorite brewery. Founders!
Doesn't he look so happy with his beer?

They had some of the best beer/food we have ever had!

Snapped this picture when I realized it really is starting to be Fall (mine and Josh's favorite time of year). How gorgeous are all these different colored trees.

Before we left for our trip we did a little shopping.
I am obsessed with these shoes Josh picked up.
You can get them here for only $59! They run true to size.

click the link to see the entire pant!
I got a pair of knit jeggings in this color (so out of my normal comfort zone)

Sorry for the blurry picture? Not sure what happened. But I adore this shirt I found. It's hunter green with a sheer back and you can kind of see the lace that covers the top of the front of the shirt. I got it with my awesome discount at AE.

I loved having the alone time with my amazing boyfriend and being able to have fun even though I worked all weekend. Have a great day everyone! My week of Detroit love starts later today too so make sure you check out all things great about Detroit!

Weekend Fun!

I know I promised an update on my weekend yesterday, but things happen. Basically it was a weekend full of drinking good beer, relaxing, and touring the city! We made a trip to Dragonmead (my favorite Detroit Brewer), Bell's Brewery (which I had never been too), The Baltimore (which is a bar from the new TV show about Detroit, called Low Winter Sun), touring Greek Town, and the highlight of my weekend was The Gilmore Museum that we visited Sunday. I want to give a warning that my boyfriend is a car guy and this makes for many trips to car museums and car shows. I'm a good sport most of the time, but The Gilmore Museum was actually SO much fun...but if this isn't your thing stop reading now! The museum has about 12 buildings to tour through, they are mostly barns that are restored. You walk on paths throughout the land and tour through the buildings at your own leisure.

These are the pictures from our Sunday trip to The Gilmore Museum.
I have a thing for all things vintage including cars!

I loved this 50's outfit! So classy!

These are old hood ornaments for the front of a persons car.

This would be the most beautiful place to get married.

They had a tour bus!

Josh climbed up inside and I snapped a shot.

I adored this little scooter!

They even had a functional vintage diner! The women inside talked and dressed in period appropriate clothing.

I loved all the little scenes they had set up and the oldies music they played through the buildings.

Josh loves AMCs (A car company that went out of business) The Hudson section was one of his favorite parts.

I badly want one of these old campers!

Isn't this the cutest little car! It's a metropolitan.

This is one of the buildings on the property.

How cool...this old car pulling an old camper!

At first he started out cute just waving then...

This happened! He's such a goofball :) But isn't this barn cool!

Another little scene set up to show an old school room!

Old school bus, those kids went to school in style!

I want Josh to get an old hat like this!

Then after we left the museum we headed to Bell's Brewery and the inside was so cool...that is an old train rail!

Vineyards, Eh?

Sorry about the poor title joke about Canadian Vineyards. (I hope you still get it)!

Before Josh and I moved out to Detroit we thought it would be a good idea to get our passports considering our apartment complex is on the water that faces Canada. Our summer has been non-stop and had no time to make it over to Windsor the first half of our summer, but just a few weeks ago we decided to spontaneously browse Canada.

I am a SUPER anxious person so just getting across the borders made me feel like a bad person smuggling alcohol or something with all the questions they ask. Especially if you're a person with a PA license, MI car plate, and it's a company car. They kind of grill you. Once we finally made it across the border into Canada our first stop was the tourist information center. We were helped by the nicest  man who loaded us up with brochures.

We knew before heading their that vineyards were on the list considering Windsor kind of kills it in the vineyard department! It's such a big deal there that they have a wine route map (consisting of 18 vineyards) We made it to 2 that day, but plan on going back to MANY MANY more in a near future visit!

{picture via Muscedere Vineyards}
This picture is poor quality and does not do this place justice, but its 1. HUGE 2. breathtakingly beautiful 3. Has GREAT wines
It has super laid back feel, basement cellar, tours, fire oven prepared pizza's, and a gorgeous patio to eat them one!

{picture via North 42 Degrees}
The second stop wasn't as pretty, but it made up for it with even MORE incredible wines! We snagged an ice wine at the first stop and a 2012 Gewurztraminer at the second.

We are currently planning an overnight trip so that we have more time to see more. We plan on making more vineyards a must, visiting Pelee Island, possibly some gambling at Caesars, and whatever else we can get into.
